About the role
Join our team as a Data Engineer at Starburst. You will be responsible for delivering enterprise intelligence at scale, leveraging open standards like Trino and Apache Iceberg to provide secure, governed access to all data sources.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain SQL-based data pipelines using Trino and Apache Iceberg
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement data solutions
- Optimize data processing workflows to improve performance and scalability
- Ensure data quality and integrity through automated testing and monitoring
- Support data governance initiatives and ensure compliance with relevant regulations
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of data infrastructure and tools
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
- 2+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field
- Strong proficiency in SQL and knowledge of Trino and Apache Iceberg
- Experience with data warehousing technologies such as Redshift, BigQuery, or Snowflake
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Qualifications
- Experience with Python, Java, or Scala
- Knowledge of ETL processes and data modeling techniques
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
- Understanding of data security best practices and compliance requirements
Skills
- Advanced SQL and query optimization
- Experience with distributed systems and microservices architecture
- Knowledge of NoSQL databases and distributed storage systems
- Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI, etc.)
- Experience with machine learning and AI frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.)

Pay
Salary range: $80,000 - $120,000 annually
