University Place Hotel, On-Call Intermittent Banquet Attendant

About the role

The University Place Hotel is a hotel and conference center owned by Portland State University. Located on SW Lincoln Street near 4th Avenue, the hotel includes an outdoor heated pool, a restaurant, fitness center, and meeting/event spaces. The parking lot offers 213 vehicle spaces reserved primarily for hotel guests.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the seamless execution of events throughout the year.
• Provide high-quality service during banquets, meetings, and multi-day functions.
• Efficiently set up and break down banquet rooms and spaces.
• Assist with dishwashing and refresh spaces as needed.
• Maintain in-house standards of excellence and operational reliability.
• Support the overall success of University Place Hotel.

Requirements

• One year of experience in a commercial food service utility.
• Valid Oregon Food Handler’s card.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull banquet equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Professional and service-oriented attitude towards all guests and team members.
• Fluctuating work schedule that includes early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid OLCC license (preferred).
• Minimum availability of two (2) days per week, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Pay

The starting salary rate for this position will be between $18.06 and $19.36 per hour, dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Schedule

Sunday to Saturday, on call and intermittent, schedule will vary.
