Universal Pre-K Substitute Teacher/ TA (On-Call $20.00 - $25.00/ hr)

About the role

Catholic Charities of Onondaga County is seeking qualified candidates for the Universal Pre-K Teacher and Teacher Assistant positions for the 2026-2027 school year. The Universal Pre-K Teacher plays a vital role in providing a high-quality early childhood education experience for young children, collaborating with program managers, administrative staff, and the Syracuse City School District.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons
• Foster a safe and healthy learning environment
• Actively engage with students to support their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development
• Work closely with families, building positive relationships and ensuring open communication
• Contribute to the overall success and positive outcomes of the preschool program

*Starting Pay For This Position Is $20.00 to 25.00/ Hour

Requirements

• NYS Teaching Certification (Early Childhood Education preferred)
• Two-year degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (preferred)
• High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
• One year of experience working with children and families (required)
• Prior experience in early childhood teaching (preferred)

Qualifications

• NYS registry clearance (required)
• Computer skills (necessary for administrative tasks, lesson planning, and incorporating technology into the learning environment)
• Good interpersonal and communication skills (essential for creating a supportive and engaging learning environment)
• Ability to work in a team environment (crucial for creating a cohesive and effective educational program)
• Strong classroom management skills (necessary to create a structured and organized learning environment)
• Manual dexterity and mobility (important for interacting with young children and driving to client's homes or community facilities)
