Hours: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm, Monday – Friday, with some Saturdays 9:00 am - 2:00 pm.
Pay: $18.75/hr or higher based on experience, plus quarterly bonus and incentive opportunities. $1,000 Summer Hiring bonus for candidates starting in July or August ($500 at 3 months of employment, another $500 at 6 months).
About the role
The Financial Service Representative (Banker/Teller) provides exceptional member service by identifying needs and offering the best financial solutions, processing transactions, educating members on loans, and resolving problems. This role focuses on increasing member satisfaction and account retention through education on credit union resources and building lasting relationships.
Responsibilities
- Build relationships with members through active listening, needs analysis, and education on credit union products to help them achieve financial goals.
- Process member financial transactions accurately, including deposits, withdrawals, payments, wire transfers, and other transactions in compliance with policies.
- Cross-sell products and services to meet members' financial needs.
- Make outbound calls to members for onboarding, relationship building, and sales.
- Develop and maintain member relationships while ensuring elevated service levels.
- Complete daily tasks on time and meet sales and service goals, including maintaining a satisfactory Making the Difference Index (MDI) and participating in the Step-Up Program.
- Greet members professionally, use their names, and maintain a courteous attitude.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of all credit union products and services.
- Examine checks to determine hold requirements and comply with disclosure regulations and privacy policies.
- Answer inquiries about interest rates, fees, and account histories.
- Manage currency transactions from the vault without exceeding teller drawer cash limits.
- Refer members with Real Estate, Commercial Loan, and Wealth Management needs.
- Follow the Member Service Roadmap by interviewing members and providing financial solutions.
- Acquire and provide necessary documentation for loan applications accurately.
- Conduct onboarding interactions with thank-you notes and follow-up calls (3-2-1 Contact).
- Process deposits, payments, withdrawals, and cashed checks efficiently.
- Comply with regulations such as the Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC, FACT Act, GLBA, Regulation CC, and Regulation DD.
- Assist in sales and team meetings, training, coaching, and mentoring team members.
- Support branch operational functions, including vault balancing, money ordering, and monthly teller audits.
- Maintain branch security and perform other duties as assigned.
- Understand and apply the Bank Secrecy Act in daily responsibilities.
Requirements
- High School diploma, G.E.D, or equivalent.
- Previous cash handling, customer service, and/or sales experience.
- Self-driven with effective communication skills.
- 6+ months of experience in building customer relationships and offering sales solutions (preferred).
- Proficient with standard office machinery and software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Primarily works in a branch office environment with occasional field locations, including outdoor/indoor climates and public venues.
- Regularly uses computers, phones, and standard office equipment.
- May need to see, talk, hear, and perform repetitive arm/hand movements for handling and grasping.
- Specific vision abilities may include close and distance vision.
- May occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or lift up to 50 pounds.
