About the role

The Universal Banker (UB) at Apple Bank acts as a full-service, single point of contact for Apple Bank clientele. This role combines the responsibilities of a Customer Service Representative and Teller, aiming to provide quality customer service and enhance branch leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Engage clients in a friendly and professional manner and resolve service-related issues promptly.
  • Thoroughly communicate the features of Apple Bank’s products, accounts, and services to current and prospective clients.
  • Identify opportunities to acquire new or additional banking relationships by discussing clients' needs and offering suitable products and services.
  • Make appropriate referrals to licensed representatives of ABS Associates of NY, Inc. when necessary.
  • Build, retain, and deepen relationships with existing and potential customers to achieve team sales and referral goals.
  • Handle all aspects of Teller operations, including processing transactions, safeguarding cash and negotiable instruments, and maintaining the customer area.
  • Open and close vaults, safes, and ATMs, and ensure the customer area is orderly and properly supplied.
  • Provide disclosures, rules, and regulations to customers upon the opening of new accounts and perform timely follow-ups.
  • Affordability and security by ensuring adherence to regulatory, compliance, security, and audit policies, as well as operational controls.
  • Train and mentor newly hired Tellers, Customer Service Representatives, and Universal Bankers.
  • Perform additional duties as requested.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required. At least 1-2 years of retail banking experience in the combined experience of Teller and Customer Service Representative is preferred. Prior experience in fostering and developing strong customer relationships is desirable. General understanding of banking operations (Risk, Compliance, Fraud, Loss, etc.) is preferred. Display willingness to be cross-trained in other branch functions. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to provide solutions to customer issues. Must present a confident, professional, and positive demeanor to customers. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including strong verbal and written skills, are essential. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are required. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint) is beneficial. Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential information are necessary. Weekend work and extended hours or filling in at neighboring branch locations may be required. Mandatory training may require occasional travel.
