About the Role

The Universal Banker serves as a key point of contact for customers within the branch, providing a seamless and personalized banking experience. This role combines responsibilities in customer service, sales, and transaction processing, while supporting the Bank's mission to deliver exceptional service and promote financial wellness.

Responsibilities

  • Process a variety of retail and commercial transactions including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and check cashing.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by greeting customers upon arrival and guiding them to the appropriate services or team members based on their individual needs.
  • Encourage the use of self-service channels and assist customers in navigating digital banking tools.
  • Open new personal and business accounts with accuracy and professionalism, following all Bank policies and procedures.
  • Take ownership of account servicing and error resolution, escalating complex issues when necessary and following up to ensure timely resolution.
  • Recognize customer needs and act on opportunities to build lasting relationships through product recommendations and referrals.
  • Conduct needs assessments with customers to identify financial goals and present appropriate solutions.
  • Meet personal sales and referral goals by developing new relationships and expanding existing ones.
  • Make outbound calls and participate in branch sales promotions as directed by management.
  • Follow consumer guidelines for accurate account handling and exception processing. Verify endorsements, assess funds availability, and issue receipts in accordance with Bank policy.
  • Balance daily work and adhere to all operational procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of ATM settlement, foreign currency handling, night depository procedures, reserve cash and coin maintenance, negotiable control, and branch opening/closing protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with all operational, security, and control policies to prevent fraud and protect customer assets.
  • Demonstrate teamwork by proactively assisting other Branch colleagues when needed and by contributing actively and constructively during Branch Team meetings.
  • Review the following reports daily: Debit cards ordered, Customer Source, Online Banking Enrollment, Stop/Hold Content, High Dollar Report, CTR addition and review, 3-10 log, IRS Data Capture, Deposit Review.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a pleasant, professional demeanor for effective customer interaction.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Prior cash handling experience preferred.
  • Previous customer service experience preferred.
  • Flexibility to work a rotating schedule, including Saturdays.
  • Availability to attend occasional after-hours meetings as needed.
  • Willingness to travel between office locations as required.
  • Adaptability to changes in policies and procedures, sometimes implemented rapidly.

Skills

  • Basic personal computer/keyboarding skills and ability to perform basic word processing and data entry.
  • Ability to operate a computer, printer, copier, facsimile machine, telephone, credit card machine, calculator, and shredder.
  • Proficiency in Windows Operating system, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, and banking systems with the willingness to learn new software, as necessary.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Regularly required to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, sit, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, use fingers, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Ability to exert up to 30 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Close mental and visual attention required to perform work dealing primarily with preparing and analyzing data and figures, performing work assignments, using a computer terminal, and/or extensive reading.

Environmental Conditions

Work is performed in a typical office work environment with no exposure to adverse environmental conditions.

Pay

The base pay range for this position is $18.50 - $23.00 per hour. Exact offers will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
