About the Role
As the front-line client ambassador for Centier, the Universal Banker (Bank Teller) is cross-trained to provide a remarkable experience for clients. This position educates clients, retains and deepens existing bank client relationships, and recommends value-added bank products and services. The role involves daily branch operations, assisting with account openings, account management, financial service needs, and transaction processing while maintaining accurate records.
Responsibilities
- Provide the highest levels of quality service to clients in a friendly, positive, and professional manner
- Establish rapport with clients, identify their needs, recommend solutions, handle objections, and ask for their business
- Understand, promote, and advise on the bank’s products, services, and digital delivery channels
- Perform basic teller transactions such as accepting deposits, loan payments, cashing checks, issuing money orders, and redeeming savings bonds
- Count drawer daily and ensure cash is balanced; investigate discrepancies
- Comply with BSA/AML/OFAC regulations and report suspicious activity
- Maintain client confidentiality and resolve problems efficiently
- Assist with currency shipments, night-drop deposits, balancing cash machines, ATMs, and vaults
- Help associates balance their drawers and locate errors
- Perform client onboarding and outbound calling to follow up on sales opportunities
- Strive to achieve individual, branch, and organizational goals
- Maintain knowledge of bank products and services; request development assistance as needed
- Represent Centier professionally through community involvement, external initiatives, and volunteerism
- Engage in personal development activities such as online learning and training
- Refer clients to specialists in other lines of business
- Perform promotional activities as applicable
- Maintain a professional appearance and work area, adhering to company policies

- Mentor fellow associates on various tasks and assignments
- Available to work evenings, some weekends, and at other branches as needed
Skills
- Working knowledge of PC software including MS Windows, Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Bookings, SharePoint, and bank-approved systems (CSI NuPoint, IMM, Covalent, Power BI, Smartsheet)
- Proofreading and verifying written materials
- High attention to detail for accuracy in data entry and document sorting
- Ability to verify the authenticity of currency
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
- Problem-solving through active listening and critical thinking
- Consultative skills to identify and address client financial needs
- Adaptability to new technology and system conversions
- Ability to interact with business partners in Investment Services, Mortgage, and Business Banking
- Experience training and onboarding new associates as a Branch Teller Mentor
- Interviewing clients to assess needs and manage account openings for personal and business products
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Banking experience is a plus but not required
- Minimum of six months customer service or cash handling experience is desirable
