Under general supervision, the Campus Shuttle Operator is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of employees, students, or patients around the Medical District.

Responsibilities

  • Transports employees, students, and visitors to MUSC and areas within the assigned area of operations. Boards and discharges passengers safely and efficiently.
  • Maintains administrative and operational logs including inspection forms, mileage logs, passenger counts, accident/incident reports, and regular updates on mandatory training requirements.
  • Communicates effectively with passengers and customers regarding transportation schedules and services. Maintains thorough work records and reports accidents, incidents, and unusual occurrences.
  • Fuels and cleans the vehicle; performs mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, and washing. Conducts pre/post vehicle inspections and adds fluids as needed. Performed in all weather conditions consistent with safety.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including substituting for other drivers, quick rides, and day-trip out-of-town travels.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma and one year of experience in truck driving, operating a crane, or operating a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.

  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders (Frequent: 2-6 hours per shift).
  • Ability to fully use both legs (Continuous: 6-8 hours per shift).
  • Ability to reach in all directions (Continuous: 6-8 hours per shift).

  • Ability to lower objects, up to 15 lbs., from height of 36 inches to floor level, unassisted (Frequent: 2-6 hours per shift).
  • Ability to push/pull objects, up to 15 lbs., unassisted (Frequent: 2-6 hours per shift).
  • Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes (Continuous: 6-8 hours per shift).
  • Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand (Continuous: 6-8 hours per shift).
  • Ability to see and recognize objects at a distance (Continuous: 6-8 hours per shift).
  • Ability to match or discriminate between colors (Continuous: 6-8 hours per shift).

  • Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements (Continuous: 6-8 hours per shift).
  • Ability to work in dusty areas (Infrequent: 0-2 hours per shift).
  • Ability to be qualified physically (by medical personnel) for respirator use, initially and annually.
  • Ability to use hand/power tools (Frequent: 2-6 hours per shift).

Pay

Hourly pay range: $37,200.00 – $48,300.00 – $59,500.00 annually.

Schedule

Scheduled weekly hours: 40.
