About the role

The Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking a Division Chief of Regional Anesthesia in coastal Charleston, South Carolina. The new Division Chief will lead a multi-disciplinary, team-based practice with clinical, academic and research responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Care for patients in MUSC’s three main teaching hospitals and three ambulatory surgical centers.
• Lead a division consisting of 13 faculty members with substantial opportunity to expand.
• Manage a practice responsible for almost 10,000 peripheral nerve blocks annually, covering a wide variety of techniques.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and be a leader within the department and institution.
• Engage in research activities, though not required.

Requirements

• Experience at the Associate Professor level or above.
• Board certification in Anesthesiology.
• Fellowship training in Regional Anesthesiology.
• Eligibility for South Carolina licensure.
• Strong clinical, educational, and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Anesthesiology.
• Relevant post-doctoral training.
• Experience in managing a large and growing division.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Leadership qualities to guide the division's growth and development.
