Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership and Vision: Lead a bold strategic plan that anticipates the future of pharmacy, aligns with MUSC’s mission and areas of excellence, and positions the College as a national leader while contributing to enterprise-level decision-making.
  • Academic Program Excellence and Development: Advance academic excellence by leading pharmacy education, fostering interprofessional collaboration, and developing innovative programs that align with accreditation standards, workforce needs, and emerging disciplines.
  • Research, Development, and Faculty Growth: Advance research by realigning departmental priorities, recruiting strong leadership and faculty, setting equitable expectations, and fostering a collaborative culture that drives innovation, extramural funding, and scholarly impact across the College of Pharmacy.
  • Graduate Program Expansion: Drive graduate program growth by strengthening Ph.D. student recruitment and mentoring, aligning faculty engagement with research capacity, and fostering a supportive culture of academic excellence.
  • Financial Stewardship and Resource Development: Advance financial stewardship by diversifying revenue streams, implementing innovative funding mechanisms, and strategically allocating resources to ensure sustained growth and resilience for the College.
  • Student Support and Experience: Foster a supportive learning environment by enhancing the student experience from admissions to graduation through academic advising, research mentorship, career development, and responsive attention to student needs.
  • Faculty and Staff Empowerment: Foster an inclusive and collaborative environment that supports faculty and staff development, ensures transparency and accountability, and celebrates excellence in teaching, research, service, and leadership.

Qualifications

  • An earned terminal degree (Pharm.D., Ph.D., or equivalent) in pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacology, pharmacy practice, or a related field; and academic credentials meriting appointment at the professor level with tenure.
  • At least five years of progressively responsible experience in academic administration and demonstrated effectiveness in a comparable environment, and the ability to work strategically and collaboratively with stakeholders.
  • Experience in an academic health sciences center environment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in academic administration, including strategic planning, fiscal stewardship, and faculty development.
  • Experience as a funded researcher and/or experience building a successful research team is strongly preferred.
  • Deep appreciation for pharmacy education and the evolving role of pharmacists in clinical and translational science.
