About the role

The Program Director for the Master of Science in Counseling with a Concentration in Art Therapy provides academic and administrative leadership for a newly developing graduate program within the College of Health Professions at MUSC. This role is responsible for overseeing program development, curriculum design, accreditation planning, faculty leadership, student success initiatives, and continuous program assessment. The position also includes graduate-level teaching, clinical supervision, scholarly activity, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to support excellence in counseling and art therapy education.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee program development, curriculum design, and accreditation planning
  • Lead faculty and ensure high-quality educational experiences
  • Develop and implement student success initiatives
  • Conduct continuous program evaluation and improvement
  • Teach graduate-level courses in counseling and art therapy
  • Supervise clinical practice and provide mentorship to students
  • Pursue scholarly activities and engage in research
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance program quality

Requirements

  • Doctoral-level training in counseling or art therapy
  • Professional licensure and certification in counseling and art therapy
  • Experience in higher education administration and program development
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams

Qualifications
