Associate Professor/Professor
Duties & Responsibilities
Teaching : The faculty member will be required to teach courses within the College of Engineering curriculum and to mentor students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Courses will include undergraduate and/or graduate courses within their specific department, as well as courses in the ENGR curriculum (as appropriate).
Research : Required to have an established research record with an international reputation and external funding, as appropriate, and scholarship or creative expression to complement and expand existing expertise in the department and the College of Engineering. Demonstration of collaborative research and scholarly activity is required.
Service : The faculty member will be involved with service activities for the department, the College, the University, and for professional and scientific organizations. The faculty member will also be involved with outreach efforts to the local community.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related science field
- Academic accomplishments commensurate with appointment at the level of Full Professor or exceptionally qualified Associate Professor (rising to professorship)
- An outstanding record of scholarship in one or more of our advertised research thrust areas
- International reputation as a leading researcher, as evidenced by awards such as society fellow status, national academy of engineering or science membership, or similar recognitions
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
- Commitment to high-quality teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels
- Experience contributing to or leading large, multi-investigator research projects
