Unit Technician - Emergency Department

Responsibilities

• Unit Technicians assist with patient care to support the nursing practice of the unit under the direction of a registered nurse and/or licensed medical professional.
• The Cardiac Unit Technicians provide 24/7 continuous surveillance, analysis and interpretation of patient’s heart rhythm patterns, blood pressure and continues pulse oximetry (spO2) for inpatients.
• The ED Technician collaborates with nursing and consultants/providers when patient parameters are abnormal or critical.
• The ED Technician identifies and activates medical emergencies response plans (performs assigned duties, i.e. Lucas device procurement and application).
• The ED Technician is responsible for performing ECGs and splinting along with other duties as assigned in the emergency department setting as directed by licensed medical personnel.

Qualifications

• 18 years old and completion of 12 college credits -OR- High school diploma/GED with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant training or equivalent.
• Basic computer knowledge and skills required.
• Able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines required.
• Must demonstrate excellent organizational, communication, writing and listening skills.
• Able to work effectively in a team setting and be flexible required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology required.
• BLS certification included in orientation program; successful completion required prior to first day in patient care.

$19.92 - $27.33 / hour
