About the role
The Unit Supervisor oversees daily operations of the nursing unit to ensure high-quality care for residents. This role involves leading and supervising the nursing team, coordinating care plans, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining a safe and efficient environment. The Unit Supervisor fosters a collaborative work culture, facilitates communication with residents, families, and surveyors, and ensures goals related to care quality, resident satisfaction, and staff retention are met.
Responsibilities
- Oversees daily operations of the nursing unit to ensure consistent, high quality resident care.
- Supervises nursing staff while fostering accountability, teamwork, and professional growth.
- Conducts daily resident rounds, identifies care needs, and addresses concerns promptly and effectively.
- Reports resident care issues to the Director of Health Services.
- Coordinates and contributes to individualized care plan development to support optimal resident outcomes.
- Participates in the nursing on call rotation and provides clinical guidance to staff as needed.
- Supports and contributes to staff performance evaluations, coaching, and ongoing competency development.
- Serves as a liaison with external surveyors and agencies.
- Promotes and models customer service excellence and nursing best practices.
- Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, maintaining readiness for surveys and audits.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate Degree
- 1-3 years of experience
- Must have and maintain a current, valid nursing license and current, valid CPR certification.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting, standing, bending, reaching, stretching, stooping, walking, and moving intermittently during working hours.
- Must be able to lift at least 50lbs.
- Must be able to maintain verbal and written communication with co-workers, supervisors, residents, family members, visitors, vendors, and all business associates outside of the health campus.
