The Surgical Services Department provides pre-op and post-op inpatient care for patients undergoing specialty surgical procedures in areas such as abdominal solid organ transplant, vascular surgery, hepatobiliary, trauma, ear-nose and throat, orthopedic, colo-rectal, urology, and other general surgical procedures. Inpatient care focuses on pre-op needs, post-op care, and treatment from phase I recovery through discharge. The department's surgical observation unit and ICU provide intensive care for post-op or post-traumatic patients requiring this level of treatment.
The Unit Secretary performs clerical duties supporting the operations of the patient care team.
Responsibilities
- Supports clinical operations by providing customer service and clerical support.
- Transcribes physician orders with close attention to detail.
- Notifies the appropriate nurse when STAT orders are written or when coordinating tests and procedures.
- Communicates new orders to the healthcare team as appropriate.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- No prior experience required.
- No supervisory experience required.
