Overview
Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital offers highly specialized surgical and medical services in an intimate environment and is known for outstanding patient care. With 64 private patient rooms, 14 operating rooms and four intensive care unit rooms, the facility was designed to provide a comforting environment that is innovative, efficient and centered on the patient experience.
Med/Surg 2
The unit manages patients with Orthopedic, Spine, Urological, Plastics and other general post-surgical conditions. Because of our patient acuity, we provide advanced training to maintain nurses at the highest level of functioning. The unit is led by a clinical manager and lead charge nurse. Additionally, the unit works in collaboration with a case manager, social worker, physical therapist, dietitian, and pharmacist. This multidisciplinary team works in conjunction with the physicians, nurses, and patient care technicians to provide quality patient care.
Role Purpose
The Unit Secretary performs clerical duties supporting the operations of the patient care team.
Responsibilities
- Supports the clinical operations by providing customer service and clerical support.
- Transcribes physician orders as appropriate with close attention to detail.
- Notifies appropriate nurse when STAT orders are written or when coordinating tests and procedures.
- Communicates new orders to the healthcare team as appropriate.
