About the role
As a Unit Secretary, you’ll be the heartbeat of a high-acuity clinical team—ensuring that every detail, every order, and every interaction supports our mission to improve the health of our community. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, juggling multiple priorities with grace and precision. You’ll play a vital part in patient safety and throughput initiatives by organizing unit activities, supporting clinical workflows, and maintaining the integrity of medical records.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate, organize, and prioritize unit activities to support patient safety and throughput
- Handle multiple simultaneous tasks and requests in a high-stress clinical setting
- Support the healthcare team by managing communications, documentation, and procedural coordination
- Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the medical record from admission through discharge
- Accurately enter and verify physician orders in the electronic health record (EHR) system (inpatient setting)
- Interact professionally with physicians, patients, visitors, and staff—often exceeding 100 unique interactions daily

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of an accredited business or medical assistant course, or equivalent experience required
- Familiarity with medical terminology, clerical-level typing, and Windows-based applications preferred

- Strong organizational skills to prioritize and manage multiple events and requests simultaneously
- Ability to remain focused and responsive in a dynamic, high-volume environment

Schedule
Full-time, 16 hours biweekly. Every other weekend. Dayshift 0700-1530.
