About the role
The Unit Secretary is a non-licensed position responsible for performing clerical unit tasks in Diagnostic Imaging as needed.
Responsibilities
- Answer telephone; take and relay messages.
- Maintain established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality.
- Greet and direct patients.
- Understand Hospital Information System, Radiology Information System, and PACS system.
- Schedule patients.
- Explain preps to patients.
- Understand HIPAA guidelines.
- Make CDs of patient’s images.
- Send images to both cloud systems.
- Aid in care and maintenance of departmental equipment.
- Attend in-service and other meetings as required.
- Must adhere to hospital dress code.
- Perform other duties as directed by Diagnostic Imaging Director.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Typing and filing skills are desired.
- Self-motivated and able to work within established policies, procedures, and practices.
Physical/Mental Requirements
- Must be able to sit and stand, intermittently 8 to 12 hours a day.
- Use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard.
- Work under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines.
- Utilize manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing.
- Frequently stand, walk, sit, and utilize eye/hand coordination and color definition.
- Occasionally reach above shoulder, regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 35 lbs.
- Occasionally walk on uneven surfaces.
