Unit Operator - Plastics -3rd Shift (10:40pm - 7:00am)

Responsibilities

• A Blender Operator converts specific additives into a powder mixture.
• A Compounder weighs and organizes raw materials according to the manufacturing schedule.
• A Packaging Operator processes and packages finished PVC pellets into boxes and bags.
• A Console Operator transfers bulk raw materials into mixing vessels based on computer-generated load sheets.
• Operators ensure equipment operates safely, communicate issues, and provide break relief.
• Operators successfully pass a 90-day probationary period.
• Operators maintain a tidy workspace and demonstrate a teamwork attitude.
• Operators attend departmental meetings and are flexible to work overtime.

Essential Physical Requirements

• Handle, cut, and dump bags weighing up to 60 lbs. into blenders multiple times per shift.
• Bend over to scoop material into boxes and drums, potentially loading up to 20,000-40,000 pounds during a shift.
• Operate fork and hand trucks.
• Bend over inside blenders to scrape walls.
• Ability to climb ladders or stairs.
• Ability to wear required safety equipment.

Qualifications & Competencies

• Read and interpret documents; apply common sense understanding.
• Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
• Compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
• Possess a strong work ethic and regular attendance.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds multiple times per shift.
• Work in a warm to hot environment.
• Train on first shift for up to four weeks before being assigned to 2nd or 3rd shift.
• Work overtime including Saturdays and Sundays as required.
• Able to drive a forklift safely and with a license.
