Overview

Salary: Up to $105,000 / Year

Shift: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm

Elderwood is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Manager to lead one of our nursing units within our skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility. This is a hands-on leadership role—ideal for a nurse who is confident in long-term care, comfortable leading teams with varying levels of experience, and committed to building consistency, accountability, and quality on the unit. If you are a steady, experienced RN who knows how to lead CNAs, support newer staff, and drive clinical standards, we want to connect with you.

Why Elderwood

  • Established skilled nursing facility in the Southtowns
  • Leadership team focused on strengthening operations, staffing, and culture
  • Opportunity to make a real impact on team development and care quality
  • A role where your experience and leadership will be valued and relied upon

Who This Role Is Ideal For

  • A seasoned RN who prefers leadership over task-based nursing
  • A nurse who brings structure, calm, and consistency to their team
  • Someone who takes pride in mentoring CNAs and improving team performance
  • A leader who is comfortable stepping into a unit that needs strength, guidance, and accountability

Why This Role Matters

This is not a maintenance role. You will:

  • Help stabilize and strengthen your unit team
  • Improve clinical consistency and resident outcomes
  • Be a key partner in shaping the culture and performance of the facility

Responsibilities

Unit Leadership & Team Oversight

  • Provide 24-hour oversight of your assigned nursing unit
  • Supervise, coach, and develop nursing staff—with a strong focus on CNA support and performance
  • Set clear expectations for care delivery, accountability, and teamwork

Clinical Oversight & Resident Care

  • Oversee development, implementation, and evaluation of resident care plans
  • Monitor clinical indicators and proactively address resident needs
  • Ensure high standards in documentation, infection control, and regulatory compliance

Family & Physician Communication

  • Serve as a key point of contact for families and providers
  • Communicate changes in condition and care plans clearly and professionally
  • Address concerns and support service recovery when needed

Operations & Staffing

  • Manage daily staffing, call-ins, and scheduling needs
  • Participate in hiring, performance management, and staff development
  • Conduct daily rounds to ensure quality and environment standards are met

Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license—New York State
  • Minimum 2+ years of nursing experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) or Long-Term Care setting
  • Prior leadership experience (Charge Nurse, Unit Manager, Supervisor) required
  • Strong ability to lead, coach, and hold staff accountable
  • Experience working with CNA teams and developing newer staff
  • Confidence in handling family communication, clinical oversight, and regulatory expectations
  • Experience with dementia population strongly preferred
