Unit Manager LPN/RN
About the role
The RN/LPN Unit Manager is responsible for overseeing the nursing care and services on their shift, including medication administration, documentation, and emergency response.
Responsibilities
- Supervise direct care of residents and nursing personnel on their shift.
- Administer direct care as necessary.
- Give and receive shift reports.
- Round twice a shift to ensure proper care is provided in a safe and clean environment.
- Awareness of changes in resident's condition and reporting to physicians and families.
- Assist in developing comprehensive care plans.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all care rendered.
- Respond to resident emergency call system.
- Interface with other disciplines to ensure continuity of care and services.
- Accompany physicians during rounds.
- Encourage restorative care to enhance resident independence.
- Participate in family/resident counseling as necessary.
- Assist with the orientation and evaluation of nursing personnel.
- Attend in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
- Assure proper functioning of equipment and adequate supplies.
- Perform specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications
- RN currently licensed in the State of Florida with at least 6 months nursing experience in long-term care setting preferred.
- BLS Certification (Preferred).
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
- Frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting.
- Must be able to stand/walk for up to 70% of the workday.
- Must be able to lift, transfer, turn, and position residents weighing up to 125 lbs. unassisted, or with the assistance of one for a resident weighing over 125 lbs.
- May be subjected to offensive odors and combative behavior.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally.
- May be exposed to communicable diseases including the HIV and HBV viruses.
- Must be able to work paying close attention to detail with frequent interruptions.
