Unit Leader/Production Supervisor

About the role

The Production Supervisor will manage small work teams in a fast-paced, high-volume, unionized manufacturing environment. Key responsibilities include:

• Ensuring the production plan is met
• Analyzing issues and driving continuous improvement
• Improving safety and enforcing safety protocols
• Understanding and addressing losses, using the C-Matrix
• Analyzing quality KPIs and guiding Team Leaders
• Allocating manpower effectively and managing absenteeism
• Building and leading teams, coaching and mentoring
• Leading kaizen projects focused on safety, cost, quality, and throughput

Responsibilities

Coordination of all activities to meet business metrics, implementation of SIS processes and initiatives, including:

• Ensuring the production plan is met
• Driving and implementing continuous improvement activities
• Improving area performances through loss analysis and C-Matrix coordination
• Analyzing quality KPIs and prioritizing quality issues
• Proactively analyzing quality KPIs related to the Area
• Ensuring the right allocation of the people on the line
• Managing absenteeism and training teams
• Building effective business relationships with plant leadership and customers
• Actively participating and leading kaizen project activities

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to work any shift and overtime as required
• Excellent organization, written, and oral communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interface with various levels of employees
• Goal-oriented self-starter with ability to lead teams
• Possess knowledge of the broader manufacturing organization and ability to mobilize support groups and resources
• Previous experience working in a union environment
• Demonstrated ability to coach/mentor/develop team members
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, 2+ years of experience in supervision in a high-volume environment, previous experience in continuous improvement systems and lean manufacturing

Qualifications

• Basic requirements: High school diploma or GED, ability to work any shift and overtime as required, excellent organization, written, and oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, ability to build effective business relationships, goal-oriented self-starter with ability to lead teams, previous experience working in a union environment, demonstrated ability to coach/mentor/develop team members
