Duties
- Prepare and compile records on the nursing unit
- Cook up unit communication systems (e.g. phones, nurse call system, facility information systems)
- Relay information
- Maintain optimal public relations
- Assist in maintaining supplies, equipment and overall unit environment
- Other duties as assigned by the Unit Leadership
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- Current CNA license in the state of Michigan in good standing required
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
- Ability to successfully complete the organization's competency requirements for English, writing, spelling and reading comprehension
- Basic computer skills and ability to type a minimum of 45 words per minute
- Ability to input and retrieve data from the organization's computerized systems
- Organizational skills to maintain records and orderly filing systems and to manage multiple processes simultaneously
- Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and all members of the care delivery team
Qualifications
- Work which produces high levels of mental/visual fatigue, e.g., interactive and repetitive or small detailed work requiring alertness and concentration for sustained periods of time, the operation of and full attention to a personal computer or CRT between 40 and 70 percent of the time
- Involves regularly lifting of bulky or moderately heavy weights (i.e., up to 50 pounds), and occasionally assisting with heavier tasks or expending the equivalent effort in pushing, pulling, or otherwise handling material, equipment, and other objects
