Summary

Under the supervision of the Director/Manager or delegate, assists in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating the activities occurring on the nursing unit by performing clerical and receptionist duties and maintaining the physical environment of the area.

Responsibilities

  • Performs various clerical duties related to the updating and organizing of information on the nursing units.
  • Establishes & maintains the patient record on the unit.
  • Answers the telephone in a professional manner and directs calls to appropriate individuals and/or takes messages.
  • Stocks units with office supplies; prepares requisitions to maintain established inventories.
  • Faxes and photocopies information as needed.
  • Records information, such as physicians' orders and instructions, dietary requirements, and medication information, on patient charts and medical records, as needed.
  • Adheres to HIPAA guidelines by accessing PHI in accordance with departmental assignment.
  • Welcome visitors, answers inquiries, gives directions and refers inquiries to nursing and physician staff as needed.
  • Provides support and necessary information to nurses, providers, offices, etc.
  • Arranges discharges/transfers by notifying patient transport services.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations and adhering to Infection Prevention Policies.
  • May transport patients in wheelchair to locations within facility.

Physical Requirements

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant.
