About the Role
Provides information to patients, families, and physicians. Greets and directs visitors. Prepares and maintains medical records. Responds to patient requests for assistance. Provides personal care under the direction of a licensed nurse. Maintains responsibility for accurately and responsively performing routine assigned clinical tasks of limited complexity. Works under direct supervision or within defined parameters.
Responsibilities
- Assists the Registered Nurse (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations, and treatments.
- Performs a variety of clerical duties including routing patient reports, as appropriate.
- Assists in scheduling patient procedures, assembling charts, and maintaining patient flow.
- Documents patient care performed including vital signs, bedside care, and observations.
- Performs tasks associated with activities of daily living and provides assessment data to Registered Nurse (RN).
- Performs routine assigned tasks and reports patients’ status and concerns to the RN, requiring minimal independent judgment.
- Maintains state of readiness by maintaining equipment/supplies appropriate to the position.
- Assists in cost containment through appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment.
- Makes decisions regarding own work, often limited and confined to routine matters.
- Prioritizes patient care and department needs, sets goals, and organizes time to meet daily demands of nursing care.
- Observes, documents, and reports patient condition and changes to the RN and/or Physician/Provider.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
- Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification: Preferred
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
- Phlebotomy Certification: Preferred
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (CMA), or Paramedic certification: Preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
Pay
The estimated base pay for this position is $21.38 to $27.90 per hour. Additional individual compensation may be available through differentials, extra shift incentives, bonuses, etc. A comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.
