Unit Assistant - Telemetry Unit - Evenings

About the role

UAB St. Vincent’s East is a 18-bed unit specializing in telemetry monitoring care for patients with diagnoses or co-morbidities requiring such monitoring. Nurses on this unit are responsible for developing or advancing their skills to detect medical or cardiovascular issues, communicating with providers, and implementing interventions to prevent emergent situations.

Responsibilities

• Perform administrative and clerical duties in support of an assigned clinical area.
• Greet patients and visitors, answer/screen/route telephone calls, file, distribute mail, and perform other general clerical duties.
• Communicate with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare team members about patient care according to protocol.
• Schedule patients for individual appointments and in a timely manner.
• Provide assistance with programs/software for Physicians/Clinicians through the order entry processes, transfers, and discharges.
• Assemble and maintain patient charts.
• Cook up meetings/schedules meetings/rooms with the appropriate person, send notices as requested, and maintain meeting minutes.
• Maintain timekeeping changes and staff schedules in computer systems.

Requirements

• Licensure / Certification / Registration: BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Education: High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Qualifications
