Unit Assistant, Med/Surg

Qualifications And Experience

• Successful completion of a high school diploma or recognized equivalent
• Office Administration Certificate preferred
• One (1) year experience in within a healthcare setting preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology required
• Experience with order entry/Meditech an asset

Skills And Abilities

• Demonstrated basic computer literacy with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook and Excel)
• Accurate keyboarding skills (minimum 30 wpm)
• Proven ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written English instructions
• Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communications skills including excellent telephone etiquette
• Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Ability to prioritize workloads and manage stressful work environments
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and willingness to be flexible to meet department needs
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role
• Demonstrated commitment to, and understanding of the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion
• Demonstrated appreciation and respect for protocol, professionalism and confidentiality

Hours Of Work

Monday to Friday. Weekend work may be required as needed.
