About the role
Medxcel leads the transformation of healthcare facilities management by incorporating a new approach to providing services. This position is located at Henry Ford Providence Hospital in Novi, MI.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates personal commitment to the organization’s core values through active involvement in the service excellence process.

- Inspects, installs, repairs, and maintains pipe assemblies, piping systems, valves, gauges, pumps, and plumbing fixtures (e.g., sinks, commodes, dishwashers, garbage disposals).
- Uses hand and power tools, gas and arc welding equipment, and other trade-specific tools.
- Assigns work to and oversees the work of assigned tradespeople.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and job specifications to determine materials required.
- Estimates plumbing material requirements and costs; requisitions materials and prepares service reports.
- Installs piping and connects equipment (e.g., ice machines, sterilizers, washers, sinks) to water, gas, or drainage systems.
- Modifies or fabricates hospital equipment for special purposes.
- Inspects plumbing equipment for proper orientation and analyzes faulty operations to perform repairs.
- Obtains and processes plumbing permits for repairs, renovations, and new installations.
- Maintains inventory of plumbing and maintenance supplies.
- Coordinates and inspects contractor-installed plumbing work to ensure compliance with hospital, local, state, and national codes.
- Prepares written inspection reports and maintains required records.
- Completes work orders in a timely, legible manner to maintain equipment histories.
- Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned, including non-plumbing tasks.
- Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- On-the-job training, trade school, or military training in plumbing required.
- Master Plumber License – State of Michigan required.
- Eight years of concentrated plumbing experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.

- Ability to read, write, and understand written/verbal communications.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication).
- Physical ability to walk and stand approximately 90% of work time and lift equipment up to 60 lbs.
