Union Eligible Truck Driver

Picks up and delivers mail, packages, goods, and biohazardous waste on the Oakland campus, branch campuses, and other off-campus areas owned or operated by the University of Pittsburgh. Routes include weekly pickups and on-demand requests.

Responsibilities

• Perform pickups and deliveries of mail, packages, and goods across the Oakland campus, branch campuses, and other University-owned or operated off-campus locations.
• Pick up biohazardous waste on a weekly basis and/or as needed, with professional personnel handling the materials directly.
• Drive on and off campus, requiring familiarity with the greater Pittsburgh area and surroundings.
• Prioritize work tasks efficiently and handle the transportation of hazardous materials.
• Maintain courtesy and professionalism at all times.
• Participate in special projects as assigned.
• Work overtime as deemed necessary.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience; a combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Valid Pennsylvania Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Hazmat endorsement.
• Must pass a mandatory DOT drug and alcohol screening and have a satisfactory DMV report.
• Ability to lift at least 70 lbs and perform extensive walking, sitting, and driving (up to six hours per day).

Schedule

• Monday through Friday, with core hours from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
• Hours are route-dependent and bid upon annually.
• Opportunity for approved overtime.

Pay

Hiring range determined per Collective Bargaining Agreement.

This is a full-time, regular, union-eligible position (Teamster/Truck Driver) based on campus.
