Underwriting Technician

About the role

This role supports the underwriting units throughout the policy life cycle, providing services to various internal functions and external customers.

Responsibilities

• Perform tasks related to the underwriting policy life cycle on various platforms.
• Process tasks accurately to maintain departmental productivity, quality, and timeliness standards.
• Manage workflows to ensure timely and accurate handling of all department processes, procedures, and service standards.
• Perform data entry coding into policy administration applications.
• Review and maintain underwriting files to ensure “satisfactory” file completion.
• Follow up and complete a variety of underwriting correspondence related to applications, policies, and endorsements.
• Correspond with underwriters and/or brokers to obtain necessary documentation.
• Focus on continuous improvement.
• Support other duties as reasonably required by the company.
• Maintain a customer service mentality.

Requirements

• Strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to absorb technical information.
• Self-motivation and customer service skills.
• Experience working in the insurance industry or as an assistant.
• Basic insurance knowledge.
• Ability to use all Microsoft Office software and be trained on Policy Administration/Claims systems.
• Ability to interact with all organizational levels.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use standard office equipment.
• Authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. (no sponsorship available now or in the future).
