About the Opportunity:The UNDERWRITING TEAM LEAD is responsible for overseeing the mortgage underwriting process to ensure loans meet all required guidelines and standards of quality. This role contributes to the organization by maintaining underwriting productivity, managing loan disposition decisions beyond authority limits, and supporting team members through training and guidance. The position is vital for delivering timely, accurate underwriting decisions that uphold the company’s commitment to loan quality and operational efficiency. Responsibilities:Analyze loan files for compliance with company, investor, and FHA/VA guidelinesUnderwrite entire credit packages and collateral for residential mortgage loansVerify accuracy of calculations and data integrityComplete required underwriting documentationAssist in training new underwritersRecommend loan disposition for amounts exceeding authority limitsMaintain underwriting productivity and adhere to turnaround time policiesCommunicate loan decisions clearly to relevant partiesKeep underwriting activity logs and submit monthly reportsProvide guideline interpretations and support to processors and correspondentsRespond promptly to post-closing reviews and auditsPerform additional tasks as directed by management Requirements:Minimum of three years mortgage underwriting experienceKnowledge of underwriting guidelines including private investor and private mortgage insuranceStrong interpersonal and communication skillsDetail-oriented with good organizational and follow-through abilitiesExcellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skillsTechnological proficiencyBachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience Pay Range and Compensation Package:Salary range from $70,000 to $135,000 per year Benefits & Perks:Medical insuranceDental insuranceVision insurance401(k) program eligibility after 60 days Equal Opportunity Statement: Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
