Underwriting Specialist I

Job Responsibilities

  • Work within a team environment supporting Underwriters on specialized insurance programs.
  • Process new and renewal information on accounts assigned to your Underwriters.
  • Communicate with Insured’s during customer service duties and activities.
  • Process binders, certificates, invoices and endorsement changes.
  • File Setup and preparation of policy issuance instructions.
  • Learn the team program(s) so that new business submissions can be qualified for acceptance or declination.

Required Experience

  • Prior experience working in a commercial underwriting Property and Casualty insurance operation desired.
  • Active Property and Casualty Indiana Insurance license; OR will be required to take the licensing test and obtain the license within the first 6 months of employment.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and time management capabilities.
  • Work cohesively in a team environment and follow direction well.
  • Computer skills to include Microsoft Word and Excel, Outlook and other company proprietary computer programs.

Education

  • A high school diploma is required.

Pay and Benefits

The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location. The salary range for this position is $35,800 to $42,000 annually.
