Responsibilities

  • Expert in all major areas of underwriting, including special pricing and marketing projects
  • Meets with Producers, clients, Underwriters, and Account Executives as needed to define and accomplish projects
  • Manages team of Underwriters and Analysts to determine workload distribution of department
  • Assists in determining strategic goals of team(s), including resource planning, education/training needs, policy development, and business growth
  • Identifies, coordinates, and manages all relevant external business partner relationships, including insurance carriers, external consultants, third-party administrators, and vendors
  • Expert in understanding actuarial plan values and how they are used in various pricing and analysis projects, including competently using software for plan analysis and pricing
  • Full understanding of underwriting models and reporting templates, with ability to fully modify and customize to meet customer needs
  • Leads and manages all assigned client underwriting projects, including presenting analysis to clients directly in a confident and easy-to-understand manner
  • Assists Producers in prospecting activities, including written RFP responses, finalist presentations, and related follow-up activities
  • Maintains data tracking and reporting for financial management, underwriting models, client reports, and other analytical reporting deliverables
  • Competent in multiple carrier data and reporting systems to obtain claim data for reporting and analysis purposes
  • Confidently analyzes and challenges insurance company renewal calculations for fully-insured contracts
  • Actively engages in educational opportunities to further underwriting knowledge, market trends, and regulatory environment
  • Ensures accuracy and timeliness of all work performed, including proper management of timelines and meeting deadlines
  • Addresses incoming correspondence and responds as required in a timely manner
  • Leads in training development and execution on all underwriting and analysis related topics
  • Complies with agency management system data standards and data integrity (enters and maintains complete and accurate information)
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Five (5) or more years of related work experience
  • One (1) or more years of management experience in leading a team of at least 3 individuals
  • Valid Insurance License
  • Must continue to meet Continuing Education requirements for license renewal
