Underwriting Assistant I - A&H
Job Summary
This role is part of Everest’s Operations Department and provides underwriting support for the Accident & Health (A&H) business. The position is responsible for processing new business, renewals, endorsements, and policy transactions while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and exceptional service to underwriters, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and process A&H new business, renewals, endorsements, cancellations, and reinstatements for accuracy and completeness.
- Support rating, policy issuance, document assembly, and transaction processing activities.
- Adhere to departmental procedures, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain effective relationships with underwriters, brokers, agents, and internal partners through timely communication and service.
- Manage transaction workflows, diaries, and correspondence to ensure service and turnaround standards are met.
- Gather and review underwriting data, including experience reports, loss runs, audits, financial information, and related documentation.
- Assist with operational reporting, quality reviews, and process improvement initiatives.
- Participate in departmental and enterprise projects as needed.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of underwriting principles, policy forms, pricing tools, and insurance operations.
- Proficiency with insurance systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Self-motivated with a continuous learning mindset.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in insurance operations, underwriting support, or a related insurance function preferred.
- Experience supporting Accident & Health or Specialty insurance business preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Pay
For NJ Only: The base salary range for this position is $57,000 - $68,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location.
