Underwriting Assistant Commercial Lines

Responsibilities

  • Aid underwriters with quoting, rating, and issuance of new business, quotes, renewals, and endorsements.
  • Perform policy rating in all states, across multiple lines of insurance.
  • Collect necessary information from underwriters to complete tasks as required.
  • Process quotes and issue policies using the company's policy issuance system.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as scanning documents, pulling posting notices, and entering Proof of Coverage (POC).
  • Ensure accurate processing of endorsements and timely remittance of policies to brokers.
  • Clear accounts in the Underwriting System.
  • Organize and set up electronic files for review.
  • Solicit renewal applications from brokers.
  • Respond to Bureau Critic requests as necessary.
  • Pull loss runs and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) information as needed.
  • Manage audits as directed by the Environmental Regional VP.
  • Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
    • At least 5 years of commercial insurance experience in an insurance environment.
    • Experience with environmental coverage is preferred.
    • Knowledge of general casualty and workers' compensation is beneficial.
    • Working knowledge of insurance and policy issuance systems.
    • Multi-line rating experience is preferred.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
    • Experience working in a paperless environment is advantageous.
