Responsibilities
- Underwrite Financial Lines products under general supervision, issuing quotes and policies while ensuring standards and compliance guidelines are met.
- Analyze information and connect with clients and brokers.
- Evaluate, prioritize, and select submissions to be underwritten.
- Identify risk exposures, special or common hazards, claims experience, and appropriate controls.
- Analyze claims and quantify losses.
- Adhere to guidelines and underwriting discipline to minimize exposure and appropriately price risks.
- Ensure underwriting files and service standards comply with assigned accounts.
- Offer coverage, terms, and conditions that generate profit while meeting customer needs.
- Capture market intelligence and broker feedback on accounts.
- Develop technical expertise with Financial Lines products.
- Demonstrate strong business acumen, financial and analytical skills, and critical thinking for confident decision-making.
- Build collaborative relationships and succeed in negotiation.
- Manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and perform under time constraints in a high-volume environment.
- Work with senior underwriters or management on risks exceeding authority level or requiring special handling.
- Sell and negotiate to achieve bottom-line profitability.
- Communicate risk appetite and Financial Lines value proposition to brokers and clients.
- Contribute to the development of producer strategies.
- Maintain a submission pipeline to achieve production and business mix objectives.
- Provide superior customer service to brokers and clients (internal & external).
- Take initiative on projects and assignments, seeking alternate solutions when necessary.
Requirements
- 1+ years of underwriting or relevant professional experience.
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, or equivalent professional experience.
- For Management Liability positions: working knowledge of financial statements and analysis.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment and adapt to evolving requirements.
- Detail-oriented with demonstrated ability to self-direct, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
