Regional Manager, Commercial Surety role based in Plano, Texas or Spring, Texas, overseeing the Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas region. Hybrid schedule: in-office Monday through Wednesday, remote Thursday and Friday.
About the role
This senior leader is responsible for the growth and development of the region, establishing IAT Surety as a valued partner to key surety producers and a recognized leader in the regional surety marketplace. The role requires industry expertise to maintain credibility with agents and attract talent as the business expands.
Responsibilities
- Establish and implement short- and long-range regional goals and objectives
- Manage the performance and development of regional staff
- Prepare and present the annual budget for the Regional Office
- Establish and manage department expenses and budget
- Drive regional initiatives and business strategies
- Work strategically and tactically with agents/principals to align on company goals and objectives
- Coach, lead, and develop underwriters; participate in underwriting training development
- Manage the regional agency plant to ensure positive and profitable outcomes
- Make timely and prudent underwriting decisions within authority limits and submission timeframes
- Collaborate with the Chief Commercial Officer and Home Office Underwriter to establish and manage regional growth and business targets
- Ensure profit centers’ underwriting accuracy and adherence to underwriting policies and procedures
- Participate in industry functions to increase company visibility
- Demonstrate superior responsiveness to agents and principals
- Perform other duties as necessary
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, or equivalent experience (8 years of relevant surety underwriting experience plus 2+ years of other related professional experience)
- More than 10 years of experience in surety, with a focus on building, developing, and expanding distribution relationships
- Experience must include significant commercial surety expertise
- Current IAT Surety employees meeting expectations with appropriate technical abilities may be considered
- Sharp, rigorous thinker who can logically connect market realities, goals, vision, and strategy for others
- Ability to respond promptly and effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints
- Strong problem-solving skills: define problems, gather facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Excellent prioritization and organizational abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- High ethical standards and ability to foster long-standing relationships
- Authorized to work in the United States without current or future VISA sponsorship
