Underwriter, Environmental

Key Objective

To effectively execute the Westchester Environmental unit strategy for our package and monoline business.

Specific Duties Include But Are Not Limited To

• Solicits new and renewal submissions from brokers
• Determines terms and conditions and complex rating plans
• Quotes/Binds coverage
• Documents the underwriting files
• Develop/maintain internal/external client relationships
• Takes ownership of given production goals and utilizes all available department resources to achieve said goals

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• Minimum 1 year of experience preferably within underwriting
• Knowledge of the insurance industry
• Knowledge of underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures
• Experience in underwriting environmental lines of business is preferred. This includes but is not limited to the following coverage lines: Commercial General Liability, Contractors Pollution Liability, Professional Liability, Site Pollution Liability, Excess Liability, Business Auto
• Good level of underwriting knowledge including Exposure Analysis and Forms & Coverages
• Rating Principles and Mechanics
• Proficiency in Typing and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Strong Oral and Written Communication Skills
• Strong Organizational skills with attention to detail
• Proven Broker Relations & Customer Management skill set
• Ability to work effectively in a team
• Negotiation & Presentation Skills
• Strong Business Acumen
• Experience working in the E&S/wholesale market space is ideal

Pay

The pay range for the role is $82,000 to $118,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. The disclosed pay range estimate may be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the location in which the position is filled.
