About the role
This position will join a growing team of construction insurance professionals responsible for underwriting and marketing specialty construction professional liability and environmental liability insurance coverages, including Contractor’s Professional Protective Indemnity (CPPI) and Owners Professional Protective Indemnity (OPPI) insurance. Working in a team environment and under the supervision of experienced underwriters, you will collaborate to underwrite and service accounts, identify key construction agents/brokers, implement sales and marketing activities, and demonstrate a strong customer focus and understanding of Hartford Construction’s appetite and strategy.
Requirements
- 3+ years of relevant commercial insurance experience, preferably in Construction Professional Liability underwriting, Environmental Liability underwriting, or Construction Casualty underwriting, and a Bachelor’s degree.
- Success in developing and maintaining solid relationships with internal and external business partners.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to think analytically about business problems, make recommendations, and propose solutions.
- High energy self-starter who is resilient and has an entrepreneurial spirit.
- Solid time, organizational, and desk management skills.
- Goal-oriented and delivers outcomes.

- Superior technical knowledge and sound decision-making and analytical skills.
- Ability to travel approximately 20%.
- Valid driver’s license, as a company pool car may be provided for territory travel.
Schedule
This role will have a hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Pay
The annualized base pay range for this role is $78,400 - $117,600. Actual base pay could vary based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency, and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
