Underwriter Associate

SPG Wholesale LLC is a rapidly growing property and casualty insurance wholesaler and managing general agency based in Garland, TX with branches throughout the US. We sell exclusively to retail agencies across the country, focusing on small to mid-market E&S commercial and specialty personal lines risks.

About the role

The ideal candidate will possess excellent customer service skills and serve as a technical resource to a large and growing binding and brokerage team. You will work with in-house Underwriter(s), carriers, and retail agents to request and review underwriting information for processing coverage placement, invoicing, rating, endorsements, quote preparation, and obtaining accurate state compliance documents.

Responsibilities

• Bind/invoice placement of coverage, rate and process endorsements with invoicing, audits, and other documents according to established departmental procedures with accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
• Issue policies through Binding Carriers portals and distribute to retail agents.
• Order and review inspections as required by Carrier Guidelines or the Underwriter.
• Prepare accounts for renewals within image right, pulling loss runs, requesting updated applications, and bringing forward audits/inspections from expiring files.
• Work towards quoting within an assigned limit authority and renewing policies for agency partners within 45 days of expiration.
• Act as liaison between clients and the underwriter to obtain missing information, status of quote/bind, and other requests.
• Handle state SL compliance documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school graduate required; college courses preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in insurance underwriting, customer service, or a related field.
• Positive attitude with a focus on helping others through frequent phone and email communication.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• High level of adaptability to meet the needs of various situations.
• Strong organizational skills and a high level of detail orientation.
• Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, and various rating portals.

Pay

The expected salary range for this position is $19 to $28 per hour, depending on skills, experience, and location.
