Job Summary
Avoca Risk is seeking an Underwriting Technician to support our growing program business. This role is critical to underwriting quality, operational integrity, and broker experience.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct account-level and policy-level reviews for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
- Manage subjectivities and ensure timely resolution prior to binding and policy issuance
- Perform internal file audits and quality assurance reviews
- Communicate with brokers to obtain missing information, follow up on outstanding items, and support account progression
- Track account status and ensure underwriting workflows are followed
- Maintain accurate underwriting documentation and system data
- Support data analysis, reporting, and account tracking initiative
- Assist with account targeting, portfolio reviews, and underwriting insights
- Contribute to the development and improvement of underwriting workflows, controls, and documentation
- Assist with testing and QA of underwriting systems and tools as required
What You Bring
- 3–8 years of underwriting support experience at an insurance carrier or MGAS
- Strong knowledge of underwriting workflows, policy documentation, and QA processes
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Clear, professional communication skills (written and verbal)
Preferred
- Experience supporting specialty lines (Cyber, Professional Liability, E&O, or similar)
- Prior experience in a program or delegated authority environment
- Comfort working with underwriting systems, rating tools, and reporting
- CPCU, AINS, or other insurance designations (or in progress)
