What You’ll Do
- Lead, motivate, and supervise a skilled crew of up to five team members to deliver high-quality underground utility installations.
- Organize daily tasks, set clear goals, and ensure efficient project execution from start to finish.
- Manage materials, equipment, and vehicles to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate records—including time cards and daily reports—and monitor project costs to keep work on track and within budget.
- Uphold and enforce company policies, prioritizing safety and compliance at every stage.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients to ensure clear understanding of plans, specifications, and expectations.
- Perform essential physical tasks, including heavy lifting and operating multiple pieces of heavy equipment.
- Drive continuous improvement and take on additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience: 5–10 years of underground utility experience, with at least three years as a crew leader.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead, train, and inspire a crew, fostering teamwork and accountability.
- Technical Skills: Skilled in reading and interpreting plans, specifications, grade, slope, and elevations; familiarity with grade equipment such as lasers.
- Equipment Operation: Competence in operating a variety of heavy construction equipment.
- Organizational Ability: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and resources effectively.
- Licenses: Valid driver’s license required; CDL and relevant certifications (e.g., Trenching/Shoring Competent Person, OSHA 30-hour) are a plus.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required.
- Communication: Clear written and verbal communication skills for working with teams and clients.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate elevations, slopes, material quantities, and interpret bar graphs.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency with keyboarding and database software.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Regularly required to sit, talk, hear, climb, stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach overhead.
- Ability to lift and move 10–100 lbs as needed.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme cold, heat, humidity, and exposure to moving mechanical parts.
- Adapt to moderate to loud noise levels and changing environments.
