About the role
We are seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Underground Utility Operator to join our team.
Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment such as excavators, backhoes, trenchers, loaders, and other machinery to excavate, grade, and backfill trenches for utility installations.
- Assist in the installation of underground utilities, including pipes, conduits, and related components, ensuring proper alignment and depth.
- Maintain accurate trench grades using lasers, GPS, or other grade-checking tools.
- Perform daily equipment inspections, ensure proper maintenance, and report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Adhere to OSHA and company safety standards to prevent workplace accidents. Identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with pipe layers, crew members, and supervisors to ensure smooth project execution.
- Aid in clearing and preparing job sites, loading/unloading materials, and ensuring a clean and organized work area.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three years of experience preferred.
- Strong industry experience specific to construction, or equivalent knowledge.
- Proven track record of working on projects involving water, sewer, and stormwater systems.
- Proficient in operating heavy machinery, including knowledge of controls, attachments, and safe operation practices.
- Strong understanding of trench safety, grade control, and excavation best practices.
- Capability to work in various weather conditions and confined spaces.
Pay
Pay Rate: $32.00 – 35.00/ hour based on experience
