Responsibilities
- Review project plans, specifications, bid documents, and addenda.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs.
- Prepare estimates for labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
- Solicit, review, and manage vendor and subcontractor quotes.
- Identify project risks, conflicts, and unusual conditions.
- Develop cost analyses using production rates, material pricing, and subcontractor quotes.
- Prepare and submit accurate bid proposals by established deadlines.
- Present estimates to management for review and approval.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and visit project sites as needed.
- Maintain organized estimating records and bid files.
- Build professional relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
- Communicate with management, field personnel, engineers, owners, vendors, and subcontractors.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Prior construction estimating or underground utility experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and technical documents.
- Experience with Bid2Win and Bluebeam preferred; training is available.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and time-management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Dependable, self-motivated, team-oriented, and willing to learn.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
