Underground Mine Production Operator I

Responsibilities

• Operate Load-Haul-Dump (LHD) unit in a production setting.
• Maintain roadways and properly place oversized boulders.
• Assemble, transport, and place explosives for cave development or secondary oversize blasting.
• Operate concrete batching equipment, transport concrete, and place concrete using diesel equipment and manual tools.
• Operate hydraulic drills to drill blast holes and/or install ground support.
• Manage distribution of explosives from magazine, perform inventories, and verify requisition paperwork.
• Install and/or repair steel piping and rubber hose to ensure proper functioning of water spray in draw points.
• Operate various equipment to perform special projects and/or housekeeping work.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Requirements

• Minimum 6 months experience in related heavy industry (oil/gas, civil construction, mining).
• Experience operating heavy equipment such as front-end loaders or excavators.
• Completed academic and practical competencies required, including Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists.
• Able to apply knowledge and skills while passing a written assessment based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge, as well as safety.
• Must meet US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (BATF) regulations: U.S. Citizen or National, qualified for an employee possessor clearance for handling explosives, and able to pass a BATF clearance screen post-hire.
• Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in heavy industry (oil/gas, civil construction, mining) or operating heavy diesel equipment (front-end loaders, excavators, skid steers, off-highway haul trucks) is preferred.

The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge, as well as safety.

Benefits

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $24.00-32.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
