Underground Maintenance Planner Specialist

Job Description

The Maintenance Planner Specialist is responsible for preventative maintenance planning and scheduling of underground mobile and/or fixed plant assets ensuring manpower, parts, shop space, tools, and other resources are available for work to be safely and efficiently executed. Key Result Areas include:

  • Regularly perform field audits of planned work with maintenance supervisors and technicians to acquire real time feedback for continuous improvement of maintenance strategies and tasks.
  • Planning and scheduling of all maintenance work through computerized maintenance management system-Pronto Xi, to ensure resources are prioritized in accordance with the maintenance strategy.
  • Support day to day functions of the Underground Maintenance department as required by the UG Maintenance Superintendent.
  • Prepare and issue weekly maintenance schedule to execution team, contractors, and mining department.
  • Work with Mining Technical Services Department to integrate maintenance schedule with mine plan.
  • Liaise closely with the Supply Department and Vendors to ensure proper inventory levels, timely delivery of direct orders, and setup/obsoletion of inventory.
  • Lead and/or assist with maintenance related continuous improvement projects.
  • Track and maintain equipment Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), regularly report on performance, and contribute to the development and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Work with reliability engineer on reliability improvements, Asset Management Framework implementation and sustainability, developing engineering solutions to repetitive failures, and all other problems that adversely affect plant equipment operations.
  • Participate in training and developing maintenance staff in maintenance roles.
  • Maintains work order status and data to ensure accurate documentation.
  • Reviews service sheets and analyzes data to determine effectiveness, quality of inspection and appropriate inspection intervals in coordination to Reliability Engineers.
  • Provides technical assistance to maintenance personnel as required.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial Engineer or Trade School education and/or qualifications.
  • Minimum of 5 years maintenance planner role in maintaining mobile and/or fixed equipment (e.g., mobile equipment, pumps, ventilation fans, electric motors, electrical starters, etc.) or related industry experience.
  • Proficient at Office 365 Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge & Core Functions: Demonstrates a high level of technical skill or knowledge in Maintenance Planning and Scheduling.
  • Experience with Maintenance ERP Systems (ProntoXi, SAP, JD Edwards, Maximo).
  • Able to fault find, give directions, and escalate problems when required during course of duties.
  • Familiar with Preventive Maintenance, Asset Management, and Mechanical Systems.
