Underground Groundperson
Description
Underground Distribution Groundperson A is an entry-level position aimed at building a career in maintaining and repairing underground distribution and transmission systems. - Perform new construction, maintenance, or repair work of energized and de-energized underground line work following company-established safety and health standards.
- Problem-solve with unidentified circumstances on any job.
- Maintain daily testing and inspection of assigned tools and equipment.
- Excavate to assist in the installation of structures or cable as required by contract specifications.
- Contact public and private property owners professionally to communicate work to be performed.
- Participate in company training of all regional safety guidelines and comply with regional safety policies.
- Operate various tools for the work (manual digging devices, wrenches, hammers, come-alongs, jack hammer, and hand-line).
- Report all potential equipment and crew safety hazards to the Foreperson.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to follow directions, work safely and productively.
- Problem-solve with unidentified circumstances on any job.
- Identify, operate, and service all required tools and equipment (e.g., bucket truck, digger derrick truck, tensioners, puller, rollers, hand tamp, chain saw, concrete saw, shovel).
Education & Experience
- Ability to provide proof of work experience, schooling, and other certifications obtained during career.
Pre-Screen
Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.
Licenses & Certifications
- Driver License Required, willingness to obtain a valid CDL within 90 days of employment preferred.
Physical Requirements
- RARE (less than 10%): Sitting, Crawling, and Climbing Poles
- OCCASIONAL (up to 33%): Stooping, Kneeling, Squatting, Body Twisting, Sense of Touch, Range of Motion, Pushing, Climbing Ladders, Climbing Stairs, Balancing, and Lifting up to 50 lbs.
- FREQUENT (up to 66%): Walking, Manual Dexterity, Seeing Distant, Climbing On/Off Truck, Gripping, Lifting Over 10 lbs. up to 50 lbs., Reaching, Depth Perception, Lifting, Carrying, and Pulling.
- CONTINUOUS (up to 100%): Standing, Speaking Clearly, Seeing, Hearing-Speech Range, Color Vision, Lifting Up to 10 lbs.
