About the role

This position must be available for the on-call rotation. The Underground Foreman will supervise and coordinate the underground utility crew, responsible for installing, removing, and wiring underground electric power distribution. This includes new infrastructure, repairs to existing lines, upgrades, installing service drop lines from poles to customers’ premises, switchgears, and line installations. The Foreman will also train and develop apprentices, prepare reports, submit timekeeping, and conduct job briefings.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate underground utility crew activities.
• Install, remove, and wire underground electric power distribution systems.
• Perform repairs, upgrades, and new infrastructure installations.
• Install service drop lines from poles to customers’ premises.
• Train and develop apprentices on the job.
• Prepare reports, submit timekeeping, and conduct job briefings.
• Set an example with proper use of safety equipment and PPE.
• Demonstrate thorough knowledge of all types of hand tools.

Requirements

• Must pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
• Valid Class A or B CDL license or permit and current valid DOT physical required.
• Previous experience in underground power distribution required.
• Previous leadership experience preferred.
• Safe driving record.
• Positive and cooperative attitude with excellent attendance.
• Ability to work well with fellow workers, other tradesmen, inspectors, customers, and the public.
• Ability to carry up to 50 pounds.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Work is primarily performed outdoors in all/extreme weather conditions.
• Requires extended periods of standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, bending, crouching, reaching, stooping, and climbing.
• Frequent lifting and/or carrying of materials/supplies up to 50 lbs.
• Occasional lifting and/or carrying of materials/supplies up to 100 lbs.
