Underground Distribution Groundperson ULCS

Responsibilities

• Perform new construction, maintenance, or repair work of energized and de-energized underground line work following company-established safety and health standards from the ground level.
• Problem-solve with unidentified circumstances on any job.
• Ensure daily testing and inspection of assigned tools and equipment.
• Maintain company equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Excavate to assist in the installation of structures or cable as required by contract specification.
• Communicate professionally with public and private property owners regarding work to be performed.
• Participate in company training on all regional safety guidelines and perform all work according to regional safety policies.
• Operate various tools for the work (manual digging devices, wrenches, hammers, come-alongs, jackhammer, hand-line, etc.).
• Perform all other duties as required or requested by supervisors.
• Report all potential equipment and crew safety hazards to the foreperson.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to follow directions, work safely and productively.
• Ability to problem-solve with unidentified circumstances on any job.
• Ability to identify, operate, and service all required tools and equipment (e.g., bucket truck, digger derrick truck, tensioners, puller, rollers, hand tamp, chain saw, concrete saw, shovel).

Qualifications

• Ability to provide proof of work experience, schooling, and other certifications obtained during career.

Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and/or MVR check.

License & Certifications

• Driver license required.
• Willingness to obtain a valid CDL within 90 days of employment preferred.

Travel Requirements

Willing to travel out of state for emergency storm work.

Physical Requirements

• Rare (less than 10%): Sitting, crawling, and climbing poles.
• Occasional (up to 33%): Stooping, kneeling, squatting, body twisting, sense of touch, range of motion, pushing, climbing ladders, climbing stairs, balancing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Frequent (up to 66%): Walking, manual dexterity, seeing distant, climbing on/off truck, gripping, lifting over 10 lbs. up to 50 lbs., reaching, depth perception, lifting, carrying, and pulling.
• Continuous (up to 100%): Standing, speaking clearly, seeing, hearing-speech range, color vision, lifting up to 10 lbs.
