Undergraduate Obstetrics (OB) Faculty Position, Jefferson College of Nursing, Thomas Jefferson University, Lehigh Valley Campus
Jefferson College of Nursing is seeking qualified applicants with experience in obstetrics nursing to join our team. This full-time, 12-month faculty position is part of the Undergraduate Program, based at our Lehigh Valley Campus in Center Valley, PA.
About the role
The primary responsibility of this role is to uphold academic integrity through the planning, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and student learning experiences across classroom, laboratory/simulation, and clinical settings. Faculty members collaborate with the Chair of Programs, Associate Deans, Dean, and support services to achieve program outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with faculty for course planning and projections
- Identify needed resources for curriculum implementation
- Oversee selection of clinical preceptors and clinical sites
- Oversee student clinical placement and progression
- Teach future nurses in classroom and clinical settings
- Serve as advisor and mentor for students
- Participate in college meetings and committees
- Utilize contemporary and innovative teaching methodologies in classroom, laboratory/simulation, and clinical settings
- Serve on College committee(s) as assigned and participate in College and University activities throughout the year
- Demonstrate evidence of ongoing clinical competency and participate in professional activities related to area of clinical expertise
- Participate in scholarly activities, apart from personal academic pursuits
- Participate in recruitment activities of the College and University
- Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of the Enterprise
Requirements
- Master’s degree in nursing required; doctoral degree preferred
- Candidates without a doctoral degree must be currently enrolled in a doctoral program
- Eligible/current for licensure to practice professional nursing in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
- Obstetrics nursing experience required
- Previous teaching experience preferred
- Knowledge and skills related to innovative teaching methodologies, curriculum development, evaluation, and supporting students in their journey to become advanced practice nurses or willingness to acquire these skills
